Comments 2009 Woodlanders Gathering

Cynthia Fletcher

After the Gold Rush

Arms complete the energy circle

Alice, stiffer, gamboling

Laurie finding another stream to walk: sharing clay, painting faces

Rich carrying in new tribal treasures: the horse and the bull

Kim’s hugs, dreams, wishbones, pixie dust

Eden and Jessica hydroplaning

David having an aha

Jessica and Cynthia having an aha over David’s aha

Franki full of relinquishing grace

Nancy gifting a bit of herself, her ring

Andi rediscovering purpose, intent, and spiritual elegance

Mary finding that four points can turn the energy of twenty-three

Adam’s quiet expertise, working the wood, explaining the forest

LC knowing she has a home

Gary finding a home

Arlene’s loss of tissue paper, finding something else in its absence

Ginger, guardian of the chair and post, strength and balance

Addison softly crying for a fried egg

Jim spreading magic, captured in a circle of rope

Matthew and Cynthia walking the labyrinth ghost

Hannah’s sweet healing

Grace’s argument with the weather

Eric gliding in for a quick hug

John sharing a new perspective

Rob leaving an aching in his wake, man of ingenuity and rust

Mary winging home with new dreams

Matthew with angel wings (the camera never lies)

Mom and son transcend the art project and embrace the rainfall

Shi capturing and translating etherea

Michelle, tomato-bountiful, with a smile to fall into

Trudi fashioning a fishing pole, catch and release

Dan frustrated by his unruly tribe, steadfast, ever, our Dan

Terri’s gift of sweetness

Moss heat

Card table validation

Missing those not present, and realizing that family is never apart

The floodwater and the double rainbow, pots of gold

Double umbrella rainbows

And the Archer split the Tree

Perspective

The line inching side to side

is a wheel in the eagle’s eye,

his own flight path a perfect reflection:

universal spirals, interstices,

not unlike those created by

a labyrinth,

a tribal circle,

an ancient, whirring toy.

Carry Forward

I close my eyes

And taste again sweet clover

Breathe in the vapors of flaming straw

Feel the perfect circle of familiar arms

My heart is full

My heart is full

Yay!   I just wanted to thank everybody for that fantastic weekend. Eden has been on fire since then - I see woodlander inspiration flowing from him everyday in his play and work. Thank You!   Every so often at random times, Addison says, "Hey mom - remember Woodlander Man? He looked at me".  As for Adam and I, far away wild gatherings of all sorts used to be the norm for us--(see LINKS)-- but with my work, we are unable to go to most. It is a blessing for us to be able to capture a glimmer of that freedom and warmth and spontaneity so close to home! Yeah!   XO, Jessica

Nancy Krim responds:

Hi Jessica,  You and Adam and your boys were an inspiration to me!

Just watching them engage with us reminded me of our mission: to stay in touch with the child inside. Eden has already caught fire, as you’ve said, but we noticed at the beginning when he talked us through his art station and so generously shared his materials.
Bravo for you and Adam for taking the time to parent with your whole selves.   Nancy

I enjoyed every moment of the little time I spent last Saturday. Next year I'll bring my tools and my flute and of course some wood.   It's very important to me to be around positive people doing positive things in order to bring up a higher level of happiness.

This gathering was so very comfortable—I felt all of us relaxing into one another as a family. There was an alchemy at work which I feel even now, in the form of integrating all my making: poetry, silver and stone, wood  MORE

My deepest thanks to everyone for making a newbee feel welcome.I loved the openness and creative energy I felt in your group this weekend. I thought I'd share my scan of a jewel weed seed pod  - Since being  shown the plant there I have located a healthy bunch of it right near  my house which is sure to help my frequent poison ivy.  see his divination drawing made at the Gathering
