Daniel Mack Rustic Furnishings, Inc., is a small design
and production company in Warwick, NY, about 50 miles from New York City. Daniel Mack, the principal designer, started this work in 1978 and follows the principles of imagination and intuition. He currently works in three related areas:
After 30 years working with trees, Dan realised that he has learned quite a bit about the powers of natural materials. Trees and other natural materials are far more than just building materials. They are links to Elsewhere. Dan's Tool Chairs in the 1990s were an early recognition of this. Dan has now developed series of Imaginal Artifacts: objects which resemble tools, furniture, art, but perform ambiguous and changing functions. They are the work of the bricoleur, that imaginal artisan who senses that certain objects are looking to get into the material world to do their work. 2. Rustic Furnishings and Architectural Services
Dan works on major architectural projects to find and install natural materials as beams, columns, as stairways, railings, fences. There've been lots of chairs, benches and tables and even a two story treehouse... He works with a group of talented rustic builders from a shared studio in Wingdale, NY.
3. Workshops
Dan is committed to sharing information on how to work with natural materials. He has been teaching and writing about this for more 25 years.
He teaches at The Omega Institute Rhinebeck, NY, his own studio, the Woodlander Gatherings and various arts,crafts and healing centers.
He has begun on-line creativity workshops and salons with artists around the world. more

He has written seven books and is currently at work on a creative autobiography, with the working title: Hair on the Shower Wall and other creative opportunities. He is freely publishing all the material on this website.
